Monki, the fashion Swedish brand owned by the H&M Group, caught all my attention recently (hello yummy sales!). I have been so attracted by the good looking clothes and tiny prices (I still cannot believe them) on the official website. My sweet fiancé offered to order me a few stuff as Christmas presents. I obviously could not pass it up !
It was a great opportunity to show you what I picked, give you my thoughts about the brand, how Monki clothes fit and so on…
Let’s get started !
What was inside the (huge) Monki bag
As you will soon notice, I picked many different things.
Kimomo jeans with cat embroideries
The kimomo denim jeans are among the coolest pieces on the Monki’s website. One of their bestsellers for sure. Indeed, it is almost impossible to resist to their adorable cat embroideries on the knees.
I heard that their denim clothes run small (because usually made of 100% cotton), therefore I ordered a size 28 (fyi, I wear a size 27 in Levi’s).
Miraculously for sales at 20€ instead of 40, I want to love them from the deepest part of my soul BUT they were not called high rise for nothing. SO DAMN HIGH, I can’t barely breathe in them.
I really don’t know if I should keep them or not. On the bright side, their price-quality ratio is unbeatable but I don’t know if my stomach could put up with the oppressive denim.
Pinafore denim dress
Huge crush when I saw it on the website ! I dreaded to try on this dungaree dress, because only one size was available. A size 34 – and everything else was sold out.
Normally, because I am quite petite, I am confident when ordering a small size. But this time I was definitely skeptical. In the end, the price of the dress was so ridiculous (10€ instead of 35 !) that I got it anyway.
Finally, I can say that sizing is OK, not tight at all BUT unfortunately the dress looks quite short on me (I am 1m66 / 5 ft 5 tall). The straps only lack 5cm to make it look way better (and longer) !
Should I send it back or keep it and try to fix the straps ??
Ruffled embroidered sweatshirt
Another big crush for me when I first saw this embroidered frilled sweater. It is just everything I love.
For this one, I purchased a Size Small, slightly oversize on me. I think the Extra Small size would have been OK too.
I prefer winter clothes with thicker fabrics but this sweater is very soft and nice to wear. For only 15€ instead of 25, I am loving it !
High waist denim shorts (with hearts embroideries!)
I have a huge problem when it comes to embroidered clothes. I need them ALL. These shorts included (OF COURSE).
Again, because they are a high rise model (easier to wear than the jeans though), I also played it safe by ordering a size 28. I must admit they are very flattering and I can’t wait to wear them next summer !
Their price ? Just 15€ instead of 30 ! And big bonus : they are made of 100% organic cotton. So thrilled to have them in my collection of embroidered stuff !
Statement tee
Just a cool graphic shirt ! I took a size Small which works nicely for my usual size 36.
Easy to wear and made of 100% cotton for ONLY 10€ (not on sales).
Unicorn stretch cotton playsuit
Please don’t be mad at me, I will not show you the lower part of this very basic playsuit (hello neighbors, that’s me the girl wearing pajamas on her balcony in January) .
I was a little bit disappointed because of its fabric (not a huge fan of the stretchy cotton) and the unicorn print was not that cute in person. Meh.
It was on sales for 12€ instead of 25 – I took a size Small !
Monki : My general opinion and review
I am quite happy of my first Monki order. Here’s what hold my attention :
E-SHOP
First of all, I find Monki e-shop very cute, no-frills and user friendly.
SHIPPING
Shipping is very affordable (from 3€ for many European countries, free for 80€+ orders). Also, returns are free (although very complicated for me with the carrier DPD in Barcelona…).
DELIVERY
I placed my order on the 27th of December and it arrived 6 days later. Not bad at all for the holidays season.
QUALITY
Quality-wise, I was very impressed by the constant use of organic cotton. Among the 6 things I ordered, 5 are made of organic cotton. It is WILD considering the low price point.
CRUELTY-FREE
If you decide to order some Monki make-up, the brand is entirely cruelty-free. Very nice !
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE…
Delivery is only available to European Union countries, french territories excluded. This must be fixed !
That’s all for today. Hope that you liked that haul !
As I am still hesitant to keep or send back a few pieces, please let me know your favorites/least favorites !
Bisous bisous
